Yes, it is a normal thing for female Muscovy. They are the most broody of all ducks. They will sit on eggs irrespective of them being fertile or otherwise.

It looks like an attribute of Muscovy. One of my male actually doesn't like water at all. He enters the bath and in less than a minute he's out, and like you said when it comes to rain it's another issue.

You're on course. Just keep them separated for about five to six weeks, then you start the integration process.

No chicken business (besides childhood). I started straight with ducks. The contemplation was between guinea fowl and ducks. I finally decided on ducks as they have personality than guineas.

If you have the space, then do it. I'm picking up an additional female somewhere next week to add up. Again one of my Muscovy is due to hatch by the 27th (about 15 ducklings)

Thank you Miss Lydia. That's been my suspicion all along, with the exception of my Muscovy and the Pekin, I think that all the other ducks I'm keeping are likely from mixed parentage. Over here people who keep ducks are not so particular about breeds, it's just what will give them eggs and meat...

I had these two few days back, however seller says their breed is 'duck'. Please any idea of breed? Here is the first duck (black Swedish? hybrid?) Second duck (Saxony? hybrid?)

Thank you. The locally available mallard derivatives have all been mixing up, so it's a bit difficult getting "pure" breeds.
