Well thank you, I have 3 females and 1 male duck. They are young now but eventually the hens will be laying and I will have eggs on my hands. If I check every day and they are not "broody" which means sitting on eggs trying to make babies, yes? Then I have nothing to worry about. I might let one...

Imma feel weird eating blue eggs. Should I even eat duck eggs. I know this sounds dumb but if they are fertilized I feel like I would be killing a baby.... Even if it was just laid a day or two ago... And considering I have one male, how am I supposed to know if it's fertilized or not?

We are not a rescue a rehabilitation service... If we released them to the wild they would be set up for failure and certain death. Even if they can fly.

Back to ducks... I let my 6 week olds forage again today, in the fenced in dog yard (dogs inside of course) they spent 2 hours out there. And I cleaned their pen thoroughly while they were out.

My horses get Purina Strategy. And he ate like 2 cups worth maybe, but like a drinking cup not a measuring cup. No more than that but possibly that much.

I'm not trying to change the subject but I have a question about something that is kind of worrying me... Has anyone else ever had their horse eat some of their duck food? I have the Purina Flock Raiser Crumbles. And one of my horses ate some. Will it hurt him?

Gosh yeah mine love bug catching... Flies, spiders and moths that go into their pen beware! And I dug for a few worms and gave them that. I saw a cricket in there the other day so I bet they get the occasional cricket as well. But, yeah, I'm with you jtn mine love peas and romaine lettuce!

Oh wow, thanks. I'm waiting to release them to the pond once they can fly. Guess it will be a while. Also, I have another question. Once they are adults, I know I'm supposed to give the hens layer feed because of the calcium for eggs. But does that mean I have to feed my drake completely...

I don't know about carrots but mine love peas and romaine lettuce! They won't touch scrambled eggs or tomatoes. So far those are the only 4 things I have given them as snacks
