Hi i had 1 duck that had a similar thing. We took it it a vet who did t really know what to do. Gave us some eye ointment (for cats) but did not appear to get any better. So took it to another vet who gave us eye drops and antibiotics. Unfortunately she did go blind in 1 eye. We segregated her...

Got a drake question. I have 3 females and 1 drake. The drake will mate with all of them. But 1 of the females he is very rough with. So much so that he has ripped the skin off the top of her head and part of the neck. The other females do not suffer the abuse? Like that. I have separated...

    The Duck Thread

Hi i know this is an old thread but i use bark chippings. Saves the boggy mess when it rains but does eventually mulch into the ground so needs topping up regularly. Ive only got 4 ducks so lasts a while. Every so often i rake the ground over so the duck poop looks better!

thanks. Thought so, just wanted to check. How does that work though? Isn't the same as them eating and digesting pellets? also, I have read a few threads and othef websites regarding food. A lot are saying to feed them boiled eggs, and feed them cruched eggshell. Would this encourage egg eating...

    The Duck Thread

Hi all, Just a quick question. Locking up my ducks tonight, on their way in on of them dived off chasing a fly as I watched I noticed it wasn't a fly but a bee. So I thought will a wasp or bee sting hurt a duck? The bee was too quick and got away, but the duck was close to having it.

Well, Marvin collected on Saturday. He met our girls and they ran from him. They were not very impressed. So we had to entice them with a bit of food. After a bit they did meet but Marvin wanted to stay with us! He was hand reared so is very human friendly. Wasn,t happy when we put him in his...

has she tried tempting them in with food? I dug a nice pond for mine whe I first had them. Would not go in it or anywhere near it. Tried the food trick but never worked. I gave up and gave them a shallow pool and they jumped right in. Since then I got a full size bath for them. Now they love...

Anyone got any ideas why my duck is costantly quacking. It's really annoying. It is like a chat. Very repetitive. Morning till night unless eating or sleeping. Its an indian runner female. Just started laying. Is it she needs a mate?

Thanks everyone for your comments. The owner has said it has no defined voice. So I might have to wait a bit longer. But we contacted the owner about this duck10 weeks ago, which the duckling was 2 week's old. That makes it 11or 12weeks old in my opinion.

Supposed to be welsh harlequin. Owner says its a drake. Doesn't want to vent sex to avoid accidental damage. I think its a female. No curled tail feathers.but may not have started to curl. Ive not seen the duck. Owner also says no actual quack yet.
