Thankyou I'm going to try this! They empty it within 5 minutes and make little puddles on the floor. I wouldn't mind so much but they are in with my other chicks which which aren't liking the wet bedding! Think I'm going to take them out and put them in a separate brooder
Does anyone have any good ideas about keeping their water reasonably clean? My two runner ducklings are demolishing it within 5 minutes and I'm having to refill and clean it 3 times a day. Do I just keep doing that or is there something that can be done? This is my first experience with ducks
Just had 24 Aylesbury eggs and 12 Indian runner eggs arrive so hopefully these will hatch this time. Don't have much luck with duck eggs but I'm not ready to give up just yet!
When do I stop turning call eggs? I've got ages to go but I've read different things and some say they can hatch on day 26 so I don't want to get anything wrong.
I checked my call eggs at lunchtime yesterday and there wasn't any development checked again 7 hours later and there was veins and a heartbeat!!! Totally blew my mind how fast they developed
Maybe try and syringe some vitamins or sugar water. My quail chick was the same I have it a couple drops of vitamin powder in water every hour and the next day it was like it's sibling.
Has anyone hatched Aylesbury duck eggs on here? Only one made it to lockdown the egg is moving like crazy and I can hear tapping. It's only day 25! Does this mean it's hatching?
One of my khaki eggs it's beak is out and opening and closing a lot but it has bubbles coming from its mouth? Not quite foaming but around those lines. Is that normal? Also when it made the hole abit bigger this liquid came out new duck hatcher here so I have no idea if this is good or bad!
Thankyou for replying! I put it into lockdown the duckling is a good size and very active so I think it'll be ok. I have 2 khaki duck eggs on day 27 which are rocking like mad so they shouldn't be to long
