Snakes have been a big problem for me this year. I've already dealt with 3 black snakes. Two relocated a few miles away and one had to meet the 410 shotgun. He had already swallowed 2 of my day old chicks and there wasn't any way to capture him without escaping into the woods and he would...

Had a great day at Gilmanor. Sold out by 10am but was stuck in place until 2:30pm. But that was ok, I got to walk around and see everything and meet some folks I've only chatted with here. Other than the chilly morning it was was a wonderful day. Can't wait for the fall swap.

I think I'll start collecting in about a week. My first batch will be Stukel line Barred Rocks, Delawares and New Hampshires. If the Colombian rocks ever decide to start laying I may include some of those.

Yeah this cold weather is a pain. I've got some heated waterers but haven't hooked them up yet. So far I'm just taking heated water out to the chickies twice a day. I think watering is the biggest pain when it comes to chickens. Algae build up in the summer and ice in the winter. There needs...

Just for anyone that's interested. I raise several breeds that are show quality. I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm going to be hatching in the spring. So anyone that is interested in chicks or hatching eggs. I'd like to start a list so I'll be prepared. I have: Stukel line barred rocks ...

It does get boring when there's no hatching or broodies going on. I am building a new duplex coop for my barred rocks and columbian rocks I hope to have finished by the end of the year. With my current coops. That makes 7 breeds I'm raising as of now. Rhode Island Reds, New Hampshires...

Wow, sold everything I took to Gilmanor today all by 10am. Took a New Hampshire trio, RIR trio, 4 delaware hens and 2 roos, 2 barred rock pullets and 2 roos, 7 RIR chicks and 4 mutt bantams. The only one that didn't sell was the mutt bantam rooster. Also sold 3 of my cages that actually weren't...

If I sell most of what I have I'll be glad to sell a couple of my 2' X4' cages that I built. I was thinking about building a bunch and selling them for next spring, just have't had time for this one.

I'd be willing to sell eggs. Probably $15 dozen. There's only 4 hens laying right now, so I probably couldn't bring more than a couple of dozen.

I haven't really figured out prices yet. I'll have 4 or 5 delaware pullets about 5 months old. 2 german new hampshire roos about 6 months old and maybe a couple of hens 6 months old. I thought about hatching a batch of german new hampshire chicks for the swap but I'm just not sure if they'd...

I don't think there's a specific list of breeders in Va here. They have them listed on petchickens of Virginia if you'd like to visit that site. I breed old heritage Barred Rocks, Delawares, New Hampshires, Rhode Island Reds (SC), columbian rocks, bantam barred rocks and bantam buff brahmas.

Someone from Tennessee bought it. Bought the name, grounds, everything that goes with it. Will open the State Fair on Sept 28, I think, claims it will go on as if nothing ever changed. Hooray!
