Don't feel silly, we've all been there! You can get it deleted, but it's something for the mods to deal with, so just don't feel bad and eat that mean guy!
Awesome!
Yes, you can show young birds. There is a class for Pullets, Hens, Cockerals, and Roosters. It is a small show, so they don't separate by breed, just age and gender. All my birds will be under 6 months old.
You just need to show up at the fair around 4 pm on show day with your birds...
Is anybody coming to the county fair in Carroll County this year? The poultry show is on Thursday August 24th, as well as a showmanship event. I'll be entering some or all of my Red, Black and Blue orps, Black, White, and Blue Cochin, and Blue/Black/Splash Ameraucanas. Hope to meet a BYCer or two!
I'm in SW VA!
I think I can vouch for the seller down south that @ApiaryandAviary is talking about, I ran into her when she was getting her chicks at the post office the same day I got mine, and they were amazing looking chicks, and they were even shipped with some cut up fruit!
For two dozen a week, five is a good number, like you mentioned.
I don't know what your budget is, but you may want to consider investing in an automatic coop door. It can cost up to $300, but your birds will need to be closed up at night, and in the summer, they might not go in until close to...
I don't know of any
Are you hatching chicks, buying day olds, or getting started pullets and/or adults? Hatching would probably be very educational for students, and I'd recommend a 7 egg brinsea, you can usually find one on eBay for less than $90.00.
My light Brahma wasn't super friendly, but she was pretty and a good layer. My speckled Sussex are very friendly and curious, I bet you'll enjoy those.
