Hey back at ya REME, how are things up the mountain? RIR are a way to go for lots of eggs. The ones I have/had layed about 260 eggs each the last two years. But I only have 2 left due to predation this year. I also lost the last of the Bresse. I'm leaning more to the Orpingtons for the coming...

Good luck with the chicks. The dog "may" get used to them in a week or so. Mine quit trying to "play" with cluckers when they started to peck her.

Anything is possible, but my cluckers lay less when it's real hot or real cold. Out of 12 with any ambition to lay I'm only getting 4-5 a day and it's been in the high 80s to mid 90s for a week or two. And that's with a greenhouse fan airing the coop.

Welcome Daox13! 3 will turn into 20 soon enough. They're addictive. :) I started up again a while back with a small coop and 5 chickens. Now I have 4 coops and more chickens than I should have. If I can keep the snakes from eating the hatching eggs and chicks, I'll be a happier camper.

Hmmm... does that mean I can pay for them now and she'll hold them until................say.............. they are ready to start laying? It might take that long for me to get all the way up there from near the Carolina border nearly halfway the other side of the state.
