There is a lot of information on Wikipedia that is not true or is incomplete. From personal experience of many years of using WD40, when it dries out, WD40 does gum up and makes things worse than if it hadn't been used at all.
WD40 is a solvent and not a lubricant. It does help loosen things up initially but will actually gum them up worse as it dries out. The three in one oil is a lubricant as are the silicone sprays.

I would have thought that you had taught him better than that. Of course when all the eggs a person gets from a grocery store come pointy end up I suppose that it would seem natural to set them pointy end up.
The one thing to remember about halogen bulbs is that if you are subject to frequent power bumps and outages, the halogen bulbs burn out very easily. This information is from personal experience and manufacturer's warning.
