Probably about ten cents worth of plastic. Half a second to mold. Half a second to eject ten seconds to clean up if by hand... Maybe a dollars worth of labor... through its whole manufactured process.
Tooling costs up front maybe about ten grand for a non hardened...
Sewing machines are very complex mechanisms I suspect she would have to have it professionally cleaned with solvent.
Or WD40.... LOL. But then re-oiled with three and one.

Just fyi the turner can be operated from the side any where.... again with a crank....
Not trying to change your mind or anything... I have to work from a seated position... besides I have had some experience with them.

Sally I got half way through the thread all i can say is
and ask a couple of questions
Why did you use all thread for the cross bars? and not rod.
Why the 45 degree angle for the turning of the trays?
For what its worth you could do some acme screw thread to affix your turing bar...
