We currently currently have 10 hens and a rooster in that coop. Theoretically it can hold up to 18-24 if you go by the 3-4 hens per nesting box rule. I thought 11 was a lot until I've actually put the hens in it. Now when they roost there is so much extra space! I could easily fit more hens in...

We have fake eggs in there with some gold balls and I keep going in the coop, finding the fake eggs and golf balls all the way on the other side of the coop.. If they were given the option to free range (we haven't yet because we haven't had them too long) would they maybe not eat the eggs...

Does anyone by any chance have any Brahma pullets or laying hens they are willing to part with? Mom wants some again every since we lost our Dark Brahma pullet. She says she prefers Dark Brahmas, but I'm sure she wouldn't be able to resist another color if they were available. No more room...

Does anyone here have any experience with Red or Black stars? Or Golden comets? I've heard a ton of how they are extremely great layers. I currently have one black star pullet that we rescued from the feed mill with splay leg when she was a chick. I'm curious and excited to see how she will lay.

I let the young pullets out for the first time today! They are having a blast. I also left our Buff Orpington Broody hen out with her two little bantam chicks. Out of the 10 eggs I gave her, only three successfully hatched, and then one chick died at about 2 weeks. So none the less she showed...

Thank you guys! That cleared up what I was confused about Oh and @Hollowoakfarm I've figured out that only 2 out of the 10 chicks we got from you are cockerels! Mom is ecstatic we managed to get 8 pullets from the bunch. She was terrified she just grabbed roosters.

Hey guys. I remember that a few weeks ago or so we were talking about green cards - being "allowed" to sell chicks or birds and such in NC. Could someone explain to me what that is? Or am I going crazy?

Aw! I'm so happy you gave him such a good home. We need more people like you in this world! Why are there so many cruel people in this world? Animals might not be as intelligent as humans, but that does not mean they deserve just to be treated with cruelty. Thank you for the names of the...

@TiaRC I am so sorry about your hens!! I hope you can save the eggs!! Thanks for the heads up! I've always been nervous about selling animals on Craigslist, because you never know who you are selling to or buying from. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure he goes to someone who...

Are there any other equestrians out there? I'm just curious, because we are trying to sell a horse. :) Just wondering if there would be any chicken/horse lovers here? I would much rather have him go to one of you guys than some stranger on Craigslist. His name is Cassidy and he is really...

Not sure we are wanting to sell them yet. We are going to be looking at how many laying hens we have coming up and then see who we are wanting to sell. Once we decide, I can let you know
