Worked on downsizing and resorting some breeding pens this weekend. Happy with the progress. Now to just get rid of the hens that don't "fit" anymore. Most are started pullets.

I'll be setting some eggs this week! I have Olive Eggers and Dark Brown egg layers in the brooder now. 3-4 weeks old.

I have about 30 chicks that just hatched that are OE and Dark brown egg layers. $3/each.

I'll have some hens for sale this Spring but my big sale 60+ will be this fall. :) There will be some GOOD breeds in there.

Holy hatch day! Over 70 chicks hatched! Swedish Flowers, Wellies, OE, EE, Blue Sex Links, Rhodebars, Cream Legbars, Lav AM, Favraucanas, etc. Can't wait for them to all grow out! Set another 125+ eggs. LOL.....I MIGHT have a hatching problem.

They didn't seem hardy. They got big and were autosexing but were bleh to me. They didn't have much of a personality and weren't "bright". Not sure how else to describe them. I recently saw a large flock of them and had the same impression.

I had them and wasn't impressed. I know someone in NC that breeds them if you are interested in Eggs or Chicks.

This is one of the big reasons I have LGDs(Livestock Guardian Dogs). They keep all varmits, coyotes, stray dogs, and people OFF my property and away from my stock and house. They are the best tool I have here and worth their weight in gold!

After a long and beautiful day of repairing pens, feeding the hogs, and moving hens.....I've come to the conclusion...I need more ROOSTERS! I need Splash anything full size and Ameracaunas of any color. I could also use about 5 more Barred Rock hens. :)

This is actually incorrect. Not just any breed can be trained to guard stock. The breeds that fall under this category still need some training and guidance but are a different type of dog. PLEASE don't put a GSD or non-LGD mixed dog out with your stock. You are asking for trouble. Yes, there...
