The way I look at it, my eggs are free. I built my coop and bought my supplies and feed for my pet chickens, just like you would for a dog or cat.... so the eggs are a bonus! I still would have my chickies even if they didn't lay eggs!

I voted for companionship, but a close 2nd for me would be for their beauty, and living in a subdivision, having them certainly makes my yard stand out!
