Serv are you staying home all through college? I'm staying through this first year, I sold all my extra male geese and moved my favorites to our big pond, this spring I think I finally want my own geese, probably the blue and lavender American!
Yeah they're great! I have a note book we call the book of geese and the first page is all the geese numbered, their band color combo, their breed, hatch date, and if the have one their name. And when I sex them I add an M or an F at the end
I think those are the bands that fall off after a certain amount of days? You can use zip ties to band then, cut them off and replace them every 5 days. Eventually you won't need to replace them.
We should all be hatching tons of goslings next year I'm investing in a nice incubator since I officially don't trust any of my geese. If each pair laid 5 eggs next year and all hatched I'd have 20 goslings!
It was actually going great, Kiwi was looking down at him like getting really close, the others hung back. Lemon started walking towards Kiwi but then Kiwi charged at him with his wings out and bit onto his head :( he's ok now. Should I try again?
When I introduced the original three to Kiwi and Mango, Kiwi hissed and attacked them but Mango really liked them I think, since she had her eggs taken away after the explosion I guess she thought they were what came out
I totally agree honestly. A few weeks ago I argued my heart out about not raising geese in the house after I learned Pear was much happier outside with Kiwi, because they aren't like dogs, dogs were bred to be a part of human's lives. Since he was the only one to hatch I guess I did the wrong...
I've been putting niacin in his water, he doesn't favor it. I put him on a towel and he walks pretty well for how old he is. I'll give it a few days. I have some four day old buff and Toulouse goslings, when I put him in with them he does the SCREEEEAM thing.
He's fifteen hours old, when do they normally start eating? I've never had one this young, only 2 days old from hatcheries. I brought him outside to see if he wanted grass so I walked away a bit and he started SCREEAAMING so I brought him inside..
He hasn't taken food yet, he drank once but when I put his beak in the food he just started shaking his head. The four day old geese are walking perfectly, they have adults outside but I'm trying to brood them for three weeks so they know I'm the one who brings the food and I'm apart of their world.
