Not really...... You should however be able to sex them by the feathering as the breeds you have all have typical feathering as related to sex of the chicks (some breeds are known as hen feathered where there is no difference between males and females. The feathers on the hackles(back of the...

Barred Rocks can be color sexed early..... sounds like you have two roos there! Pullets will be mostly black with grey barring. Cockerels are mostly grey with black barring. Sorry if that is not what you wanted to hear. In my experience the RIR's, Buff Orps, and Barred Rocks are extremely...

Sweet are you looking for a heritage or meat breed? I have had Black spanish, Royal palm and currently have to Bourbon Red hens. The BS are the bigger of the three. The BR's are a medium size and the Rp are smaller yet. For overall looks and temperment I would select either RP or BR. My favorite...

I have a broody that has been broody for a week now. She is a silky, barred rock, and orpington cross. She is the best mother and goes broody 4 or 5 times a year for weeks at a time if I do not let her set. She just sets on everyone elses eggs and screams at the others if they come near her. She...

Ya I know I should have jumped on here a long time ago but I did poke my head in here from time to time though. Just never said Hi. Bad of me I know. Sorry to disappoint though I...
