Thank you for sharing your experience! She was on antifungal medication for 10 days, which helped, but she's still not eating on her own (except for dandelion leaves).

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thank you, that's very good to know. We've been putting ACV in her water and giving her kefir with her eggs as well, to try to offset the negative effects of the antibiotic.

She seems to be going in the right direction, although in baby steps. We'll take it!

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thank you! We have been feeling quite helpless. She's very special to us. We're doing all we can; I hope it's enough. It seems like she's doing better today!

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

You're right, it doesn't seem to be sour crop. It's strange, though. She was on some very strong antibiotics because it was too late to try natural remedies (it progressed very quickly), and she seemed to be getting better very quickly. But a few days later we noticed that her crop was...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thank you. I'm surprised that there aren't any experienced poultry vets where we live, as many people in the area have flocks. But we'll keep looking and hopefully find one soon! We've been giving her ACV in her water. She ate a couple bites of mash today, and her crop is pretty much normal...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

She is. It could be from the stress, but I'm really hoping that it's her annual molt.

Do you think sour crop always has a smell? We've never smelled anything bad coming from her. Her crop is down almost to normal , but she's still not eating on her own.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thank you! I don't know for sure if it's sour crop, because Blossom doesn't have any odor to her breath. Did your hen have any smell to her breath?

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I haven't felt anything in her crop yet, but I'll check again tomorrow. Her crop was very full this morning, but went down to half that size this evening. Blossom's not eating on her own right now. We have to syringe raw egg and kefir into her beak to make sure that she's getting some...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

The vet said it could possibly be a compacted crop, but I'm not sure how we would break that up, with her crop being so squishy.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Definitely not easy with a turkey! I'm not sure what we should do. The vet said he could try putting a scope down her crop, but that would be more than we could afford.

Thank you for that advice! I did that at first, and everyone was very helpful. But I think I will have to post again because it might be something else.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thank you. I don't know if I could do that with Blossom (no experience)... but we're worried about losing her. How long did you do the ACV treatment?

That's alright :hugs Thank you though! Have any of your chickens ever had sour crop?

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I don't know what to do about Blossom. I think she was dealing with sour crop, and I thought that she was finally getting better. But she stopped eating and on Monday her crop started to swell a bit again. We'd been giving her antifungal medication (Nystatin, 30 mg / 2x day for 10 days). I...
