Thank you! Hubby made homemade fried potatoes and opened a can of Bushes Baked Beans. I got stuffed lol.

Yep! We better enjoy it while we can as it won't be long! I have a cold or we'd have maybe gone out to dinner. ☺️

Awe, that's awesome! We JUST moved these 10 out to the aviary (off the breeding pen.) The low is 23F, but they have a Cozy Coop heater inside the hutch inside the aviary so they stay toasty warm in there. Tomorrow, they'll come out and run around. High of 60F! We have no chicks in the...

Silky hatch-along and OdoBan on eggs experiment

They are almost 7 weeks now and really should get moved outside. Days are in upper 30's and 40's with some even in the 50's, but some nights are still dipping below freezing. We'd be putting them in the aviary that has a hutch and a cozy coop inside of it so they have a place to stay warm, but...

Ours don't perch so we took the perch out. They sit on the rail in front of the nest boxes so poop in their walkway which I just sprinkle stall refresher (cheap version of Sweet PDZ) on there and on top of the nest boxes where a few others jump up to. He had made them ramps to get up to both...

The best chicken football is when the ball is a mouse, except when I see that, I gag thinking of eating eggs. 🤣

That is so fun to see. It happens here too! They cry when they run with their prize, but I think it's excitement!

Wow, that's some beard!! I don't even think my bearded ones have that much beardage. Pretty. ❤️

I love these! You are so creative!! There's a couple that REALLY sparked my interest, I mean, they're all great and I'll come back to think through them all a bit more, but the "baby chick school" would be so fun and so unique! So is the "best dads"! What is the best camouflaged...

No you aren't, sheesh, I didn't even know it was coming then boom, there it was! Yes, I suppose I'll host something one of these days. I'm out of town this weekend so it won't be this week anyway! Got any good ideas?

Thank you, Fluffy! It's just been a few days now. ❤️ Their combs are relatively the same. Some are a bit different. I suppose I should just take some head shots and see what ya'll think!

I won't even breed like that. We don't cull for meat here and I'm sure I could even get $10 for those cuckoo roosters whereas I've always given my pet quality and frizzles away free. I think what I'll do is just hope for a smooth cuckoo rooster, and keep a couple cuckoo hens, one frizzle, the...

So now learning this... "The cuckoo gene is dominant, however, if you put a cuckoo hen with a solid roo it will be a sexlinked pairing. All boys will be cuckoo and girls will be solid." That's not so great! I'd have all these beautiful roosters I'd have to get rid of. A couple of these...

Silky hatch-along and OdoBan on eggs experiment

I asked. I got two people telling me they are the same regarding frizzles, can't breed them to another frizzle. That breeder must pull some of them out as her pen was full of cuckoos. I'll just have to keep hens I suppose. This does make a little more sense now as I wasn't understanding...

Silky hatch-along and OdoBan on eggs experiment

The one buff turns out to be a frizzle. The one in front is a cuckoo according to the breeder. Remember we were talking about why can cuckoo's be frizzles and breed, but regular frizzle silkies create problems if they do? I should ask that question in the Silkie group on Facebook as there's...

We said we would if it turns out to be a hen. Otherwise, I guess we'll survey the rooster population then. :) You all did this, you know? Before it hatched, we wanted nothing to do with those!!
