We tried tube feeding, watered down food, lots of fresh water and none of that helped. He seemed to get a bit better with the warm week then declined again.
We found him weak and unable to stand this morning so I carried him inside thinking he was too cold. He wouldn't drink or eat. We thought...
I don't have access to any place like that. We used a dewormer from the vet last week. I can try the Tylosin and I have a kitchen scale with grams
We'll have to tube feed him and cross our fingers.
He's still looking slow and my kids are worried he's not eating. He's only pecking at romaine again, if he even looks at it. He's not running from me even though it looks like he doesn't want me near him.
He's been out, laying down mostly, in the sun.
I am wondering if he's going to need a...
Update:
We made a vet appointment to rule out ingested metal or foreign object or poisoning. He just kept falling asleep and avoiding his flockmates. We set clean grit near his food and some in food mixed heavily with water to make a thin oatmeal.
So of course Sunday he was much better and I...
He climbed into one of the water bowls and kind of splashed/preened more than I've seen in awhile.
He's soaking up the sun and looked like he was dozing with his eyes closed, standing up.
He's on doxycycline 100mg twice a day. We crush it, mix it with as little water as possible and use a syringe to put it in the back of his mouth as slowly but quickly as possible. It smells and tastes gross I'm sure.
The feeding sounds stressful but my spouse says they'll help. I'm watching him...
We're on day 3 of meds. He's on a broad spectrum antibiotic and finished Panacur dewormer. He hates it.
He was still lethargic and not eating so we decided being alone in the garage wasn't worth it. We have a very large house, big enough for about 10 geese to lie down with room. Fresh food...
They didn't do x-rays or blood. We were going cautious but if this doesn't work we might have to consider it. From the look of that thread there's nothing do it if that's the case so I guess we just make him comfortable?
I can't afford surgery and hospital care for a goose, it's a big reason...
So we have a broad spectrum antibiotics and a dewormer. They did a float test and fecal smear with negative results. Here he is at the vet.
After two doses he's not changed much. We're pretty confident he's drinking and rinsing his face but don't think he's eating well. I'll see him touch the...
My spouse caught him, which is unusual itself, since he uses a cane and walks very slowly. We brought him into the garage. He doesn't feel thin, can't see any eye gunk or anything on his nares. His feet didn't feel too hot or cold.
Watery poop, a bit green and a bit white.
We feed Kalmbach...
I went out and really looked him over from a foot or two away so I didn't scare him. His droppings appear normal, though we see all the geese squirt just watery like urine once in awhile.
His eyes are droopy, his head is low. He's not really throwing his head and splashing like the females. I...
That will be a year old in June/July so around 8-9 months old
One gander, two girls and they're Pilgrim. The picture of him next to one of the girls is today. The one of just him was in September or so at 3 months old. The recent one is how he is all the time. He was pretty lazy in the summer...
My gander is acting differently. We don't know if this is just how geese are when they mature or if something has happened.
They were always very friendly, hanging out with us when we were in the yard. The male would even get comfy after awhile, sit practically on our feet, and sometimes we...
