Looks like it was Doula. The remaining blue isn't nearly as blocky as she was, so I'm really thinking it was something internal now. I'd been concerned she might have been laying internally, just because of how large her pouch was.
Yeah, I'm still pretty bummed about it. I have no idea what could have happened, honestly. There was a cinder block in there so that the chickens can get out if they fall in, and I couldn't find any signs that my male had bred and drowned her, it wasn't chilly, so she shouldn't have gotten too...
Lost a Swedish yesterday. I'm not sure how,she got in the trough (it's too high for them to do much more than reach up to shrink over the wall) or what happened afterwards (not a single mark on her). I have to watch them come out today to see who exactly it was, but I think it was the nice...
Yeah, I was hopeful, she bounced back decently quick after I found her, but she just was rather weak and I think everything just took that night to catch up with her. Technically I think I had a freebie call, so I'll just consider LG to have been that one
Here you can see, the pastel call is much larger than this little grey. Almost lost the little today, he got stuck and chilled but seems better right now after being warmed up again.
Honestly, I don't expect Little Grey to make it (unless it's actually just the only she and that's why the size...
Chickens are getting into the duckling pen. Gotta figure out how before I move them out of the trough, so they'll be waiting until Monday at this point.
If it was normal May weather, I'd be less worried. But it's drizzling and windy and cold right now, and especially since my calls are uninsured (which is why I absolutely did not risk giving them to anyone) I'm trying to be extra sure they're okay heatwise
Got my replacements coming the first week of June, which will be great, since the Littles will be old enough to definitely not still be in the trough, and hopefully I won't need the light on them either by then
Yeah. All the others were empty (though the chicken eggs snuck under her were too, which is even weirder), but this one was a floating mass of death and probably bacteria
Looks like he jumped into the water dish and got chilled. He didn't like going under Twila, and she didn't seem to be real keen on him (though she was more than okay with him around and interacting with her, she just didn't talk to him or guide him)
Yeah. I did find a (dead) developed egg under...
