Okay so internet says wry neck. I got the selenium orange goo and gave each girl a tiny bit. The other chickens have been spending time with them, just now it was Delft who did not want to go to bed, she wanted to stay.
How they tuck themselves back as soon as I let them go. Poor sweeties

We have SO many this year! But we did a little habitat restoration with the treeline on our field.
I did just pull a wad of tarp string from the beak of a different hen. I wonder if Blue and Yeti ate really long ones and hurt their guts? Their crops felt soft and empty when I checked them...
Yeti has developed the droopies too. Those girls are my bug hunters, could it be firefly poisoning? Both lethargic, drooping head and closed eyes, slightly open beaks. Will seperate them as soon as I can get a crate set up
Blue is unwell. She was good yesterday but today hubby found she was covered in poo, broken soft shell egg all over where she was sleeping.
:(
Marble is keeping an eye on her.
2/4 coops are cleaned. I'm overheating so taking a break.
Thirsty kiddos
@BY Bob let HRH know we have more beards and cheekypoofs growing here. I've been giving them extra spicy food to help them grow!
And an early fluffy butt friday!
The one in front with the blue tail and blue head, I'm...
It depends on how dirty they look, or if it's raining when I collect them. I wash, scrub with a dedicated scrubdaddy, and towel dry them before refrigerating.
I wash every single egg, even store bought before cooking with them. Just a quirk my mom always did too.
So proud of my ladies, they queued up properly and laid me some wonderful eggies. Just had to wash them and now I'll need to sort out the ratio of these eggs to large ones for baking. :)
We had a streak in the early 2000s of some creep butchering cats and leaving them at the spot the bus stopped for school. I wouldn't be surprised if an unsavory individual dubbed the poor bird, although opossums also eat combs and wattles off if they get a chance, according to my friend.
Here...
Just went out to refill waters, and saw a line of girls going all the way out of the tall coop door and down the ramp. Someone was hollering her egg call inside...guess their cycles all synced up today 😆
Wish I had brought my phone to get pictures, it was so silly!!!
I believe Cemani may be...
Yes! The lady says her splash marans must have been the daddy of those girls! Now to wait for a Delft egg to see if she lays blue-green (Benedict daddy) or olive-brown (marans daddy)
She's so happy I'm still sending her pics of the girls, since updates like this help her understand her own flock!
Blue laid her egg! That gives me 6 for the day so far!!! That's only in the nests at the tall coop, I'm afraid if eggs were laid in the short brown coop Nosy Posy has eaten them. 🙄
He's going to a roo-only fun flock soon.
"Yum yum, eggs!"
Dad's dog treed a young raccoon in their driveway a bit ago. 😬
I did a walkaround before letting the birds out, no sign of anything nearby so hopefully the darn thing won't even try the coops.
