Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

I’m 90% sure it’s nutritional at this point. The definitely came from the same hen, they were identical chicks. I’ve hatched from her before and haven’t had this issue but she was free ranging then. She’s been moved into a more confined pen since we recently had a hawk move into the area and...

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

Update: the chick seems to be doing really well with the vitamins, only caught it on its back twice this morning and has been great thro the rest of the day. I Will continue with the vitamins for a few more days and if it does well tomorrow( no falling on it’s back) I will return it to the...

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

I don’t think so, the second chick was having issues before I even took it out of the incubator. Thinking that the yolk itself was deficient In something in both eggs so is affecting them similarly. They were laid by the same hen only a day apart. This chick has survived a full 24 hours longer...

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

Of course I completely understand. I use a bulb i got from tractor supply specifically marketed for brooder’s. It is a red bulb as I have found it does limit bullying and pecking. Currently giving the flock leaders recover plus. Included a photo of the nutritional analysis. It’s what I had on...

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

Yes I’ve raised lots of babies in this exact setup, this bulb I’ve used for probably three batches. All the other chicks are doing extremely well. I did put some chick boost into their water to be safe this morning. It’s all I had and I’m currently snowed in so I can’t leave to get different...

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

I think 99 is too hot for chicks. I believe Day old chicks are to be kept at 95 and them drop 5 degrees every week they age. The chicks I have in the brooder are not bunching together on either side of the brooder so I don’t think it was temps. I clean my incubator with dawn dish soap and then...

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

Thank you, the currently afflicted chick is still alive and sleeping peacefully with its buddy. So I’m thinking it’s not in terrible pain if it’s able to sleep so soundly. If it makes it through the night and is still struggling and doesn’t respond to vitamins in a reasonable time frame we will...

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

They get a medicated chick crumble I get at tractor supply, I believe it’s the Dumor brand. However I’m pretty sure symptoms kicked in before they were really eating. The second one did poop in my hand and it was mostly water and some dark sludgy poop that looked like a yolk poop.

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

A disease that kicks in 12 hours after hatch? That affected two chicks that never came in contact? Is it possible it’s a vitamin E deficiency? I think I read that it can cause neurological disorder like symptoms? Such as imbalance and head tilting.

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

The brooder is an open top sterilite tub, my govee monitor is reading 94.8 right now under the basking spot. There are two runts and there’re actually quite spunky and active. These two started panting around the same time after they hatched an entire day apart. The panting progressed to...

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

It is aspen livestock shavings, the two chicks that have been sick are the same breed and it kicked in at almost the exact same time after hatching. I’m not sure if it’s a vitamin deficiency or if it’s neuro. I placed it back in the incubator a few hours ago and this one is not acting any better...

Sick chicks right out of the egg, help!

So I just hatched a batch of 22 chicks, 19 made it to hatch and then yesterday one of the chicks started acting weird in the brooder. It was in the incubator about 12 hours before I moved it to the brooder. After about an hour in the brooder I noticed it was weak and panting and also seemed to...
