That’s funny! I’ve not had a bantam Ameraucana that’s broody yet, and Bonnie is very uninterested in the whole thing! 🤪 I got 6 eggs to develop and hatch and 5 of them died within the first week :-( So I have one lonely girl I’m hoping grows up strong.

Got my first wheaten bantams to hatch! I think anyway 😆 They’re really white…is that common? I’m used to seeing a bit of black on them and more of a yellow down. So sweet though! 😍

Exactly! This is what real mentorship and guidance looks like. Is that the Katherine Plummer out here? I know a Katherine that shows Rosecombs here in CA. She’s really nice and down to Earth. :)

Yeah, there are a lot of very opinionated people in that group!! I definitely agree with you that it’s a silly and sort of made up thing when they insist it’s something else entirely if the phenotype isn’t perfect. While I totally agree with @pipdzipdnreadytogo that the reason makes sense—the...

I am with you @NagemTX ! I find the Ameraucana breed groups to be a fickle bunch that likes to pick at you about everything. Very rarely do you get useful mentoring types of help…it’s very frustrating! Which one made you mad today? 😆

Totally did this with my d’Anvers! I just assumed they wouldn’t…until they had a group of them on 18 eggs! 😆 Oops! My blue Ameraucana hen likes to team up with my broody Orpingtons every year too—I didn’t expect that either. It’s funny how some you just expect while others just don’t give you...

Yes, you would need to keep crossing down the line. But you also have to consider the genetic quality of the line and back cross to a wheaten unrelated every now and then.

Gotcha! How interesting! :D I wonder if the Post Office knows they're supposed to have all of that...haha. Mine has never asked :P I would potentially be interested in being a customer of yours someday when you do decide to start shipping! :)

You can sell shipped eggs without NPIP as long as the buyer knows. Does FL not allow it? I’d be surprised if FL was more restrictive than CA on that 😆

I wish I could help you! @I Like Turkeys has wheatens I think, but not sure if they ship. My advice would be to visit the ABC breeders directory or join the The Unofficial Ameraucana Alliance Facebook page and ask there. If you’re not looking for super show quality, there are a couple people on...

Isn’t she?? I have owned Frenchies for over 20 years now and my last one passed in June and the house didn’t feel right without them 😍❤️

    The AMERAUCANA thread

Yeah, what they said. Most times it’s mixes of mixes crossed with mixes and you will get any color egg depending on the cross genetics from the mixed birds. Thus the moniker Easter Egger.

    The AMERAUCANA thread

It’s confusing because there are no hard rules about what you call mixes in general. Hatcheries do what they will to sell eggs. I don’t know what Murray McMurrey does so I can’t say for certain what yours is composed of or should be called. For examples - Silver Ameraucana x Brown Red...

Thank you! 😍 She’s our new puppy we got last weekend ☺️❤️ She’s a blue and tan French Bulldog and I’m obsessed with her 😁 Our older dog Koda isn’t quite sure if she’s fun or if he should be jealous 😆
