That’s what it looks like to me too. I believe it has to do with the melanizers that you get some of the unevenness in the blue colors, but I think the lavender and blue makes the blues super light and your blue has a lot of dark markings. I know it’s not desired to look the way your bird is...

Bobtail IS weird! There are a lot of variants hidden under the bobtail coloring from what I am gathering…but I have seen them come from some chocolate pairings in the past. And I know chocolate interacts with blue as well…and the modern game are Lemon Blues…so I am thinking it is something...

Well @pipdzipdnreadytogo the feathers are not white! Would this mean that my Modern Game carry something recessive like the Dun gene or something similar? I know they don’t usually carry the sex linked chocolate in the game lines, so that’s why I thought maybe Dun? I’m in love with the color and...

UPDATE: OMG…is it possible that this baby is a bobtail Cochin/modern game bantam?!? I have a coop next door to the satin coop…and it’s three modern games and a handicapped bobtail Cochin rooster…can bobtail pass on only one copy?? It would explain the pink skin, 4 toes, straight comb, and...

Yeah, maybe it will just be boring white but I’m in love with her coloring. No wing feathers yet, gonna have to keep impatiently waiting 😆

Any guesses on what color this baby will be? Dad is a Lav Cuckoo Satin, mom is a black silkie. 😍 it’s very mauve to me and came as surprise from the blacks I was getting!

Yes, she was with a lot of other chickens up until the end of the year and then I moved her into the breeding pens. But no, she's a new pullet from eggs back East. These eggs were from Feb 3 though...is it possible she held onto other birds for THAT long? But even then...she would have to be...

She hasn’t! She’s been in those breeding cages since the beginning of January 🤪 She only likes Angus too. She beats up on the other roos. That’s why she was the choice for the hen to put with him. She hates the other boys 😆😆 But that might be the only explanation…it’s just so weird 😆

Okay @NatJ or @nicalandia I’m having a tough time seeing these babies hatching from what I thought was a black pen. Rooster, whom I have shown multiple times as a Black Ameraucana. Here is the hen - Their babies so far - Is that rooster blue?!? And if so, I still think the hen...

The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

Hi @NatJ and/or @nicalandia Can you say if black x quail will cause leakage in the F1s? I am looking to acquire some hens that are quail and I only have black roosters, so I'm wondering if that is an okay crossing that won't cause me issues? I know that the F1s would all be black, but just...

I should have known it wouldn’t be that simple haha. This is his leg coloring up closer - they’re definitely NOT slate…but not pinkish/mottled like I get in my other EEs

The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

Okay, so that means the boy I took a picture of is barred and his legs are a light blue gray…so if I found a wild type hen to make with I might be able to start the process without the yellow leg concerns? Unless the pullet has yellow legs? Thanks for the help, I always appreciate it ❤️

The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

I’m curious if you can explain to me the basics of the Crele pattern? I read that it’s almost impossible to get slate legs with the Crele pattern for Ameraucanas and I was wondering why and how it’s created? I have this lovely EE that’s half Ameraucana and half d’Anver and his leakage reminds me...

The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

I managed to sneak it away from Duchess to get better pictures. The upper legs are slate…wondering if the feet will change as it gets older like my splash Ameraucanas do. Definitely not a light Brahma boy haha 😆 I think some head feathers are coming in as well…it’s interesting that so much of...

The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

@nicalandia or @NatJ What pattern would this be? Or the likely genetics? Any guesses? I think my chick that I thought was a Brahma is part Silkie/satin as its feathers are coming in more similar to hers and the comb is looking dark and more walnut shaped. Baby is mainly white with a similar...

Yeah all my Marans are feather legged, but not crazy feathered. You were right about the barring. I knew you’d know the answers :-) After all this discussion about Mr. Ball (the Wyandotte) it has me vaguely recalling that the breeder may have said he might be barred. This is the Langshan -...

That’s what I thought dang it! 😆 I will remain hopeful that the feathers are gold when they grow in 😆 That’s generally not how my luck goes with broody hatched babies, but I can hope for at least a week 😁 As for the momma of the other baby, I have 2 marans and a Langshan that lay chocolate...
