I could’ve kicked myself for not getting pictures of the dummy with his head still stuck 😂 but I will take some other pictures of the twins once both in the brooder

Any other delayed hatchers have an update?

2nd duckie hatched this morning! It’s another yeller :eek: It had pipped toward the pointy end so I popped the cap and waited patiently and had to help it finish because it’s little head was stuck in the egg 🤭

I did learn something…….call ducks don’t do well on paper towels in the brooder as it’s still to slippery so I put my grippy from one incubator down which is making it a little better

Update from me: Casper is doing well but lonely…..next possible hatch is internally pipped! The other 2 remaining eggs are in the hatcher but not due to hatch until Sunday or Monday ish.

Casper the call duckling was doing well this morning……I pinched off the remaining umbilical attachment to the egg…….will figure out a brooder tonight and move the next couple of eggs to the hatcher

I need to remember to send out brooder reminders next year 😳

His daddy is Gilligan (chocolate mallard) but mom must be Lovey (snowy) or Ginger (nutmeg) for him to be yeller 🤔

He hatched around 9 but looks like there’s still some unabsorbed yolk…..will see how he’s doing in the morning! And I just realized I haven’t set up anything for a brooder yet :th

I started popping off the cap about 30 minutes ago at over 24hr mark since I saw the external pip. Still alive and chewing. Had a small vein still so I’m just monitoring and may have to add some moisture to the membrane if he doesn’t continue to progress on his own.

And a watched egg never hatches :old
