    15th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

My hatch is complete! I sent in my final count, but here's some Cochin bantam cuteness for y'all. :love

First one is finally out for me, too! :love I saw 4 other external pips, so hopefully little one won't be alone for much longer :jumpy

We're just entering lock down over here today, but other than just one clear my eggs are going strong. I, at the moment, am feeling a rather lot like this emoji, however:

    15th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Well, I mentioned back at the start that I wasn't confident any of the eggs out of my birds would develop because of how early in the year it still is. I just candled my EHAL eggs and all but one is developing. :th

I don't have an answer for you, unfortunately. When I've incubated Marans eggs in the past, I just couldn't see anything in them at any point. Good luck with them! :fl

Yeah, I was thinking it was probably just that the lids get to be a bit unwieldy on the larger models of Brinseas. That and the humidity pump sometimes getting a bit overzealous about pumping in water are the only common complaints I've seen about them. I have the 28 Eco and it's a solid...

Ah, that's a shame, he was adorable! But, definitely understand not wanting to keep a bird whose temperament was an issue in your flock. I have Dorking hens and OEGB roosters, so it's a cross I've been very tempted to try out myself. I love my Dorks and the OEGBs are so tiny and cute, but I...

    15th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Oh man, oh man, we're getting close to set day, aren't we? 😬 I've got to get my incubators washed up and ready to go! I will probably be setting mine on Sunday instead of tomorrow, for the record. Holding out for just a few more eggs, and my Cochins tend to be just a little bit early to hatch...

Oh my goodness, he sounds adorable! 😍 Do you happen to have any pictures of him?

Yeah, go ahead and switch me over to a yes. No sense in denying it any longer. 🤭 Not sure how many will actually develop this early in the year, but one of my coops seems to be producing plenty of eggs, so I should at least have something to set around the 9th.

Yeah, I'm not ready just yet to say yes for sure. But it's a real strong maybe for me at this point :fl

    15th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Oh goodness, that means it's only 2 weeks until the chicken egg set day!! :th How did that come up so fast?! I did get a whopping 4 eggs from one of my Cochin pens last night, though, so I guess the birds are ready!

I would absolutely lose my mind waiting for emus to hatch 🤭

Look what I found in one of my Cochin pens last night!! :yesss: :jumpy :wee

    15th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Haha, nah, they're Cochin bantams, stubborn little spitfires. Knowing how they are, if I did do something like that, they'd withdraw egg laying even longer just to spite me!! 🤭

    15th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Easter's pretty early this year, so I don't honestly know if I will be able to participate; it all depends on when my Cochins start laying again and whether they're actually breeding in early March or not. However, I am hoping to participate again this year. :fl
