Yes, chex mix is great. I didn't know there were gf pretzels - if you think of the brand name, please let me know. I've found some crackers that are. Pretzels by themselves would be good too, if I can find the gf brand. For worchestershire saice, French's and Lea and Perkins (in the US; not...

Larger pieces. That slows the digestion and absorption of the carbs which means the rise in blood sugar is slower and lower. So is the drop in blood sugar. The other advantages of oatmeal over other breakfast choices have to do with the type of fiber it has and are similar for rolled oats (old...

Dh lowered his A1c out of the pre-diabeties range through diet changes. The main things we did were spacing his meals out and applying glycemic index considerations. He used to rarely ate breakfast, had a small lunch, and got most calories at dinner. The Dr said that put a lot of stress on the...

I read once that the fire walking is across a certain kind of stone that looks like hot coals and/or looks hot enough to burn skin but isn't really hot enough to do that. I don't really know. I did burn the bottoms of my feet once walking across a fire, though, or ashes anyway. I wasn't trying...

Elm was my Dad's favorite firewood. We (technically, they, I guess) heated with wood for about 40 years. My sister has for more than 20 and still does. I carried an awful lot of it. I don't remember it smelling bad but we were milking 60 cows and raising all the heifers. I doubt a...

My friend that lived in China for several years and watches what goes on there pretty closely told me about Temu. It is a Chinese company selling things made in China and shipping directly from there. I don't remember all she said about why but she will not buy from Temu.

This year, I did a few of my own apples. They are unnamed volunteer seedlings. I think they all descend from an apple core someone tossed as they worked the fields. Thankfully, none of us mind the apple skins at all. I agree about peach skins, though. I ended up peeling them (with a knife - I like that much better than the blanching/poaching method). Then tried drying the peels too. I found them eatable but only just barely.
