Wry Neck is a Vitamin e and selenium deficiency in poultry.


This Thread is for anyone that thinks there chicken has wry neck or just wants to learn about it.

Symptoms
*Unable to pull head up
*Twisted Neck
*Staring up in the air
*Tucking head under chest walking backwards
*Head on other side of body

Wry Neck can be the start of another disease such as Aspergillosis and Mareks

Causes
*Vitamin e Deficiency
*Head Injury
*Genetics


It will Slowly get worse if not treated.Treat it fast it may take years!!!!



Early case of wry neck




Treatment

First off separate your chicken to a stress free environment or Wry Neck gets Worse.You will need to go to a local pharmacy and get Vitamin E,Vitamin B and Selenium
.
Treatment
*400iu of vitamin E a day
*25mcg of selenium a day

*One Human vitamin B pill you cant overdose

*Massage the neck into the right position

*Also make sure its getting enough food and water

*Patience

Tuna,Yogurt,Eggs are very good for chickens




Prevention
Make sure your chicken are getting high quality foods
During hot days chickens need more vitamins i use sav-a-chick




Ive dealt with Wry Neck for seven months and im still not done.With Wry Neck you have to be patient.Ive learned and studied Wry neck so much that i thought i would share it with other having the same problem.Ive never done one of these so sorry if im bad at it.
