How to make a cement bird bath out of a leaf
edited to say that I got this idea from an old gardening magazine
start off with making a mound of sand and covering with saran wrap
Find big leaf I use a weed I think it is called burdock (whatever it is it grown burrs so I always cut it down before that happens) you can use a rhubarb leaf as well. Place over saran wrap
Put cement over thinly about 1/4 inch
wrap in saran again
let dry like that
Peel off leaf once dry I use chips to stabalize and keep from breaking as I work, you can scrub off with hard brush what does not peel easily
Now for the base I use a cardboard tube at home depot meant for piles
Fill with cement put on saran wrap
Place leaf and push down gently to create dip in cement for it to sit in, then remove and let dry for several days
then peel back paper leaving pillar and paint you can use any paint as long as you use a cement water tight sealer over or you can use a non toxic cement stain with out sealant.
all done
