NY chicken lover!!!!

That is HORRENDOUS. I already have time to pickup arranged for the week mine are coming in, and a backup person in case something unexpected happens. 😞. I think Hoovers is overwhelmed which doesn’t help. I would be so scared to order chicks this early with the weather in NY…
The other part is TSC never knows when chicks were shipped for them. So instead of the boxes being dropped of at the door around 10 or 11. A clerk has to get someone on the Phone at TSC, then the manager has to take their own car, make time to drive all the way out to the post office to pick them up. Its BS.
Also, no shipping until temps are above 32° at the destination. That'd be nice.

In upstate NY I expect that will be about July. 🤣

Anyone need a good flock Roo? I have a barred Roo whose sire was a chocolate cuckoo Orpington out of one of my green layers. He is everything I want in a roo, alert, nonagressive, tidbits and is quickly growing out of his teenager phase.
The problem is he is an all day crower. And I cant Stand it. His daddy wasnt a big crower, must have gotten it from the hen. Kind of anoyed to have raised him for almost a year just to have him start doing this mid winter.

My advice (borrowed from others here) is to go on Craigslist. I had an extra roo and he was adopted to a good home in less than a day.

As for crowing - omg yes. My Charles crows all freaking day especially since the weather became nicer. Luckily we have hurricane strength windows and he is a faint cockledoodledoo.

I’ll talk to my aunt. She was interested in getting another roo (she has two flocks, the second rooster went after her one too many times so now she only has one). He wouldn’t let her enter the coop to feed them in the winter. The other guy is a perfect gentlemen, tidbits his hens and ignores people.

Her only requirement is that he is gentle. There are lots of little nieces & nephews that visit. Has he ever been around kids? DM me with more info, and I’ll touch base w her.
