Please don't laugh at this question. We have 20 hens. No roo. The roo went into the crockpot in November.

I keep finding eggs that look like there is a bullseye (below the spot from the flash). Not many maybe 3 or so out of 12-17 eggs we are collecting every day.

Am I not really seeing a bullseye?

If that IS a bullseye then how could that be if we haven't had a roo in 4 months? The hens are penned during the day and free range under supervision when we get home.
There are no roos within 1/2 mile of our property.

It sure looks fertile. I've heard of hens holding onto rooster juice for 3 weeks, but not 4 months. The only thing I can thing of is a wandering roo coming for a visit, but you say that's not possible.

I have 12 hens and they have been laying for a little over a month. I ocassionaly see this same type of spot on some of my eggs. I thought a bullseye had some red in it? There is no way I have a roo, and the girls are still in the coop (run isn't ready yet-still too much snow).

Here's an old post with pics showing fertile vs non fertile
