Can't shake these feather lice

I went though a chicken lice problem. The dusting helped. Right now you need to check the chickens in the dark. Go out about couple of hours after dark with a strong flashlight and look for your parasite. Check the vents area and every where else you can think of. I don't thing you chicken would be alive if it was stick fleas, the took out two flocks I know of here in the south, but they can travel. And she had a nice red wattle....good luck I know your frustration. r

I have no clue. Sounds like youve done a lot to kill pests? It really does look like feather picking to me but you are there to see that it does not go on so im super stumped

With feather picking is the feather stripped, or completely removed? Our EE had her beard picked (after eating yogurt) and it was completely bald in that area. Not a slow progression of feather disintegration. It spreads, like mange or something.

Thanks Ruby, we haven't tried that yet. Thank goodness she's our tamest bird, I can't imagine what a pain this would be on some of our wild ones.

Ive seen it just get stripped If the bird doesnt get a good grip on the feathers or pull too hard.. I had a silkie roo who thought he was totally awesome and got his butt kicked all the time, his tail feathers looked like that. BUT he had lice on his head.
