We were Vaseline-ing everyone today due to a still-continuing scaly leg mite issue, when we noticed on of the White Leghorns, Primrose, had a very swollen foot. We thought she might've had Bumblefoot before, but then it went away and we never noticed anything until today. Her foot is VERY swollen and it looks like the scab has come off. There is clear puss leaking out and the poor girl's foot looks very painful. We don't know what to do, so we put her back in the coop for now. I'm worried about it getting infected, though, so please help us! I'm thinking of wrapping it, but I don't know what to do or how. I really need help, it could mean Prim's life. Oh, and I skipped putting Vaseline on her. I wasn't sure if I should. Any help is appriciated greatly!

clean it with warm water. clean her whole foot and leg. pat the swollen area dry and make sure her leg and all is dry. I'd start with some padding of some sort, like, medical padding. cut a small piece and put it on the bottom of her foot. put and band-aid loosely over that, just to hold it in plaice. then get some medical wrap, i'd say gauze wrap, and get a LONG piece. you know how you can wrip / cut that stuff in half? not length, but width? the hot-dog way? XD I'd wrip off one fourth of the piece. NOT off the end so the piece becomes shorter, but off the side so the piece becomes SKINNIER. use that 1/4 piece to wrap the chicken's foot. i just suggest using 1/4 the width of a normal gauze strip so it fots between/around the toes and on the chicken's foot more comfortable. wrap it you would any person's foot, not too tight, but not so loose it falls off. not super thick either, her foot has to breathe!

wrap it between the toes to hold it in plaice, and around her ankle to hold it in plaice also. she is going to squirm, but this will help her. I know its a lot of work, but if you can replace her bandage and all 1-2 times a day hopefully she'll get better.
 
I hate to say it, but it looks like she might have it on both feet. In the third photo down, it looks like she might have a scab on the bottom of both feet. Bumble foot is caused by a staph infection, so make sure to wear gloves when handling the fluid from the wound.
