I like the railing guard, good idea.

this was before we were done with the pen itself but you get the idea. it has a door on the backside for cleaning and getting eggs (when they start laying). we made it out of old deckboards from when we downsized our deck.. so it was free!

Just finished my Quack Shack. Even has 3 spare bedrooms upstairs in case any of their chicken friends want to sleepover.

I used a Play House that I bought second hand, it is up on a vinyl covered pallet and 8 inch cement blocks to give them a 12 inch shaded area underneath as well. 1/2 inch hardware cloth on windows and door, it's worked very well so far, easy to hose down when they projectile poop up the walls, and the windows provide good ventilation with the heat right now.

They haven't had any issues with the ramp to get in and out

Here's my duck house. I LOVE ducks, but they are the messiest creatures on earth. For their pool, I dug a large pit in the ground, and put several boards over the pit. The pool sits on the support boards. I drilled a hole in the bottom, and put a regular bathtub plug in the hole. Now, I just pull the plug, and all that dirty water drains into the pit below, then soaks into the ground. It is the easiest way to change water, and the ducks love it!

Here are a few views of the house. Some of these pics were taken last year, and I have since put tough livestock wire around the pen. Hope you like them:)

LOVE THIS. I am about to lose my mind with these ducks and their mess/smell. UGH! Do you still use this? Do you recall how deep the pit was? Also, was it approximately as wide as the pool? where did you place the stopper, along the edge or in the middle?
