So I've been working on this design here and there and thought I'd share and see what you all think. Havn't started building and don't have anyplace to put it, just something to pass the time that I might beable to use someday. I'm just bird crazy.

This would be a breeder pen for a quad of Cots or could probably also work for a trio of bobs.
Over all dementions are 16" tall 18"deep and 32" long with an added 3" in the front for the feeder and roll out catch tray.
The "false floor" is 10" from the top in the back and 12" from top in the front. Door is 8"x8".
The feeder I modeled after a new flat fronted rabbit feeder design I saw, and would put a rabbit water bottle on the other side of the door.
Also this would be made to accept a galv. dropping pan.
All walls would be 1"x1/2" WW, False Floor would be 1/2" hardware cloth as well as the catch tray which would also be lined with carpet padding.
There would also be a section where the feeder meets the front wall that would be 1"x1" WW to let the birds put their head through to eat but not get in the feeder.
That section is 3"h x 6"L. This design could be used to make a multi section system.
Just a concept, any questions/suggestions are welcome. It's late and I can't think anymore so goodnight BYC.

you think a 1"/9" grade is to much? I want to assemble with J clips so I in order to connect with these sizes of wire I thought it would be the easiest to connect. I guess I could use hog rings to hold the false floor to the sides and go with a 1"/18" grade if that wouldn't be to little grade?

I THINK 2 INCH WOULD BE TOO MUCH OF AN INCLINE, I ALWAYS THINK OF HOW UNCOMFORTABLE THIS WOULD BE FOR THE QUAIL, I THINK 1/2 TO 3/4 SHOULD BE OK., OTHERWISE YOUR DESIGN REALLY LOOKS GREAT.

Well, if is too much of a grade I will adjust the entire pen to offset the grade, that will be an easy fix, just as if you find 1/2 to 3/4 is not enough you can tilt the whole pen forward to the lip and get a steeper grade.

I plan to start with just 1 pen sitting on the floor or a table so tilting probably wouldn't be an option. With j-clips it would have to be graded in whole inched so the best thing I see to do is make it 2" deeper and keep the grade at 2" making it 2"/20", or I could make it 1"/18" grade and use hog rings just to keep the gap closed. With the second idea though the floor might sag in the middle though creating a 1"/9" grade in the back and 0"/9" grade in the front. I also had a question regarding "boink" would 1/2" carpet padding on the inside of the top be a good idea? also could I mount an 18" flouresant fixture behind it to for a "laying" light?

I am sorry I stay busy this time of the year getting ready for trapping season . I have 2" in a 27" deep pen and ocaisionally I have an egg fall to the ground I like the roll out pens it keeps the eggs much cleaner. I also have lips at the bottom to keep them from getting to the ground I used Jclips to put mine together too

Hmmm Trapping, I always plan to go then get to busy I've got 20 perch froze for coon bait we'll see if I get to use them. I don't want my pens to be to deep because, lol, I have short arms and don't want to get cut up to bad chasing a bird around to get it out. I do plan on using the plasic door/ opening trim though. This is a far off plan I have a small indoor rabbit cage for my first quad I'm hopefully getting in the spring.
