Just wondering how blue/green Ameracauna eggs are supposed to be?
I recv'd my eggs this morning that I ordered from a guy who said he had Ameracauna hens and indicated that their eggs were blue/green in color
The eggs to me are not blue/green as some are leaning towards a soft brown color.

Does anyone have any pictures of their Ameracauna eggs for comparison?

I was going to set eggs tomorrow but not sure now.
Was hoping for eggs with a more noticable blue color as the lady that I am incubating the eggs for wanted to add blue/green eggs to her flock.

Thanks

I would say that what you got were Easter Egger eggs (some people mistakenly call them Ameraucanas). Because EE's are mutts (or cross-breds) you will get all sorts of variations in egg colours depending on what the true Ameraucana stock was bred to (to produce the EE coloured eggs.) My EE eggs are actually much more consistent than yours seem to be.... ie. all of them are a seafoam green colour.... but then I only have 4. It is my understanding that the pure bred stock produces a blue egg, where the cross-bred stock is greener (such as the ones you got.....) but I could be wrong on that. Maybe someone else with true Ameraucanas could help us out here.

Oh, and if you get in touch with Claire from Skeffling Lavender Farm near Wiarton, ON, she has true Ameraucanas.... I mean the real ones. Great stock too! She also ships eggs. I got my EE's from her as chicks, but she sold them to me as EE's and she knows the difference. If you send me a PM, I could give you her contact information. But she can easily be found on the Poultry Swap Ontario page as she is a regular contributor there.
