My (Dan Powell) Gold Laced Brahma pair

They are beautiful! Where and how do you get a gold laced Brahma? I have a light Brahma and love her. These gold laced are exotic looking and gorgeous. They are like my gold laced wyandotte on steroids!

Greenfife Farms sells them for $199.00 for a day old unsexed chick tho they just call theres Gold Brahma's not (Gold Laced). The best way is from a breeder if you can find someone in your area that has them? These were created by (Dan Powell) and are very very rare before Dan went out of buisness he was selling day old chicks for $100 each and hatching eggs $400-500 per dozen! Now you can find them on some websites like rarebreedauction.com and I have even seen them selling on this site aswell. They are not cheap tho having said that you pay for what you get. Most people now are charging $75-100 per dozen eggs and day old unsexed chicks for around $25 each. I will be selling chicks and eggs soon myself right now everything I'm collecting and hatching I'm taking to a local poultry show that's coming up. Let me know if your interested I might can help you get started! I also have (Dan Powell) Buff Laced Brahmas but there still in the brooder. Thanks for Looking Everyone!

Yeah I know. I just found out a few weeks ago when I went to his website. But it wasn't for financial reasons at all I guess he just wanted to try other things in life? who knows. But he created some Gorgeous birds thats for sure. Your pair look really nice if you don't mind me asking did you get them from Jon Burton? On rarebreeds website. Also what did you end up paying per bird? and did you buy chicks or adults? sorry I'm asking so many questions just curious. Thanks

Thanks for the info. They are good to have in my vocabulary. I think someday I will have one despite the cost. We can only have 5 chickens, or I would get one now! I'll save some money in the mean time to hopefully get one in the future.

Yes, I did buy from Jon Burton late last summer on rarebreedauctions.com. People had stopped bidding so high on them so I won the auction for 6+ at about $90 with the shipping. He shipped me 8 chicks. One died the first week out of the remaining 7, two had straight combs and one of the straight combs had a cross beak (he didn't make it either.) That left me with five, I had 4 pullets and one roo. I am actually thinking of selling a pair. The "project Brahma" people aren't overly friendly. Every time I posted photos of the chick they said they had vulture hocks etc. and I should cull them.... but now that they are grown I don't think they do have them after all. I think the breed still need a lot of work that I am not sure I want to do. I do love their personalities. They are very friendly, quiet and slow growing. I have found that the eggs they lay are a little on the small size so far. Are your laying yet?

I also have a Silver Laced Pair I got from Greenfire. That rooster is way bigger than the Gold Laced roo, but his lacing isn't complete on the front. He is mean too! (So he has to go!) I think I am going to stick with my Swedish Flower Hens... Sorry if I am complaining.... I do think the lacing on your female is prettier than mine and the gold is a deeper color. Where did you get your chickens from?
