I noticed today for the first time that my silkie chick has developed a crooked top beak. S/he is 5 weeks old and only 3 weeks ago I had banded him as a keeper because his toes were great, etc.. I would have noticed a beak issue for sure. I'm not sure how I missed it, but there are several other chicks in this pen. My question is WHY did this happen... and is this genetic? I've hatched many chicks from this particular pairing of parent birds and have not seen this before. Ideas about this?
