I don't know how I missed this thread back in July, but it's fantastic, so many great ideas! Hummingbird, I laughed till it hurt when I read that bit quoted above...now I know how to survive the tv campaign ads between now and November...just picture those yapping fools covered in chicken poo. Now when they say it's a mudslinging campaign I'll be thinking hmmm not exactly...

After you are done using the signs, and they are well covered in poo, you could return them to the place you got them,and send your own message.
 
I used a 5 gallon pail and a flower pot base to feed pheasants when I raised them, so I thought about using it for the chickens. It was too big for the indoor coop I had so I made one out of a plastic coffee can and flower pot base. It worked good until today when the birds picked the string it was hanging from and I decided to make a bigger one. here's a pic of the coffee can feeder.
