I have 7 eggs in my incubator. I candled them today, and in a couple, there was just darkness, almost to the air pocket. And for a few others, i just saw the dark spot only at the top of the eggs?

Movement, as in when you turn them when candling them you can see something move around? What does it look like when theyre moving?
KericWell until its REALLY dark in there (3ish days before they hatch) you can see movement. You can see something moving. Yes when you turn them, while candling, you can see movement in there! Some are sleeping I think, so I'll candle a few so I can see movement. I like to assume that if the darkness is the same in all the ones I candle, but some aren't moving, those ones are just sleeping (not dead.) If theres one that is completely different, light, it's dead, or infertile to begin with. It's cool, let us know if you see it.
Until you are sure what is dead and what is alive, just keep them all in there until they are all hatched out. Ones that don't hatch after like 2 days it's safe to assume they won't be hatching. Candle those to see what they look like to learn what infertile looks like.
Just candle, take notes, and learn!

Look for movement but NOT immediatly after you turn the egg. Wait 15- 30 seconds see if it still moves when you are holdng it still. Sometimes a bad egg or infertile the contents will move and shift as you turn it
. If you hold it still and it moves then it is a chick moving. No they dont have to be dead to not move yes sleeping GOOD LUCK!
Well put them all in and see what happens!!I think you will get some babies!GOOD LUCK!I guess I didn't explain myself well. This is what I do, I'll stare at it for about 20 seconds. Forgot to mention how long, thanks Again if no movement, it's probably sleeping. Only time will tell!
I usually take the egg (usually just before I turn them a last time at night) and candle it. If I don't see movement I tip it a little bit, then tip it back. That usually wakes him/her up. If I don't see movement I just move on.
