I like your coop! Framing looks very solid/sturdy. How many hens will you keep in there? Also, I hope you are in an area with NO predators (if there is such a thing), as your chicken wire will not keep them out. I understand it is more cost effective, but nothing is more heartbreaking than losing your hens to a predator that got through that chicken wire.
Really chicken wire is not recommended? I guess I do have a lot to learn! Can someone link me to what is the safest to use to keep predators out? We are in the process of renovating an old barn that still has a good solid frame, just needs some work. One of the stalls we are making into a chicken coop and then we will have fencing that comes off of the coop door to a large open run, we were planning to use chicken wire. Our backyard is around 16acres and is hill and wooded area, possums, coons, fox etc,.. are the norm.
& While I'm thinking about it, what do you guys do to keep predators from digging under the ground to get to the hens?
