Hello, I was just curious if anyone had tried or seen a tiered brooder box to save on horizontal room for the brooder. The way I figure it, you'd probably want to limit them to one floor for the first month or so and then open up the second floor for the second while the chicks finish feathering out. That way they can't fall off the ramp or get too far from the heat source (if there isn't one on both levels) until they are a little bit older. The goal would be to allow for a roomier brooder that can handle Chicken Math without taking over all of my basement

I'm drafting up my own plan, but I'd feel a lot better about it having some tried and true ones to influence my design or to adopt out right all together. Failing other plans, any thoughts about the idea? Maybe I can't find anything because it's a just plain bad idea?

this is my brooder box that I use in the brooder barn, I have a smaller one in the house till the chicks are about 4 weeks old. they start out on the top level and move to the bottom. then they are old enough to go out to the nursery barn.

That looks fantastic PollyC! About how tall are your top levels? I was worried I might make mine too short and make them hard to clean in the process.
