I hope this posts correctly. Please tell me what these are. We were cleaning our turkey after slaughter and noticed them mostly near his rump area. There were quite a few of them.
They LOOK like blonde fleas. They do not jump - they run and walk only.
They seem to die in hot water (which dog and cat fleas do not).
I managed to get A BUNCH of them on my head and I showered immediately and haven't felt any remaining on me, but I still want to know what they are.
If someone can tell me how to post a video, it show them much better.
Thanks!

The one I can make out (magnified shot) appears to be either a louse (body shape) or Northern Fowl Mite. The behavior, once off the bird and on the human, of going directly up the body to the crown of one's head is certainly that of the NFM. They don't do well off of their hosts. Check over rest of flock (easiest - creepy crawly - is to pick up chooks/turks and wait to see whether you feel them making a beeline for your scalp). Checking them over with a magnifying headset is less stressful on all involved. If you have a roo - check his butt - NFM's prefer the feathers around rooster fundament to fluff around hen's `tails'. Also check for clumps of eggs indicating lice. Don't know about direct vid utility (have always used link to photobucket, sorry).
