    About hopkinton state fair

I went to fair today, hopkinton, NH. I don’t see any chickens, ducks, or geese? I only saw rabbits and big livestocks. I’m planning go fair again tomorrow with my friend. Whoever in hopkinton know what is going on about chickens or where they are? :(

Poor people at the fair getting confused by chicken terminology XD

Spent all day at my local fair, and here was my favorite moment. I hope it makes you laugh too! :lau A couple walked up to me and asked, "Is that bird a rooster or chicken?" I checked the tag on the cage. "This is a rooster. But a chicken can be both a male and female chicken. We call the girls...
  3. TEaCup Acres

    Hi from Plant City, Florida!

I am the chicken lady/goat momma of a bunch of little boys on TEaCup Acres. We have had chickens for a few years now, started with Japanese Bantam and now have a wide variety of backyard layers for eggs around the rainbow! We still need to get a pinkish egg layer and a dark brown egg layer...

    Next show!!

My next show will be the Canfield fair, which is the whole labor day week! If you can, stop down at the 4-H small animal barn, go on the chicken side, and look for the "Country Kids and Kritters" sign. Then look for the exhibitor name "Isabelle Ciavarella". They're building a new barn so it...

    Is my duck sick??

I have six white pekin ducklings I plan to show at my local fair. Yesterday I noticed that one of the ducklings had sort of separated itself from the others. It was acting relatively normal other than being separated. I put it with the others but they walked away from it. So I picked up to give...

    HELP! Skittish Show Goat/Regaining Trust

This year I’m showing a boer meat breeding doe at my county fair. When we first bought her, she loved me. I has her to wear I could skip a halter on no problem and walk her without any big issues, just training her to stay where she needs to be and such. She was super sweet, was cuddly and...

    Should I show cows?

Next year I'd like to show cows but I don't know much about them. Does anyone have any suggestions of what breed I should get and what class I should enter in? I can't keep them on my property but there are stalls down the road from me that might allow me to keep one or two there. Also, should I...

    duck price

I would like to know what would be a reasonable price for a duck 8+ pounds. I’m setting my own price and trying to sell my drake at the fair in September, he will be six months. Anyone know any prices??

    4-H Poultry

Hi, I am wondering if anyone else out there is in charge of their Poultry Barn during the fair? A friend of mine and I are in charge of the Poultry Barn (She's Open Class & I'm 4-H). In the past, we have had a "chicken thief" come through our poultry barn and steal birds from the 4-H...

Yes or No to No-Crow Collar?

We have hatched some Lavender Araucana chicks that are now 9 days old. I plan to raise them all to 16-18 weeks, sell 7 and keep two to add to our existing flock. I would love to keep a rooster but we do have neighbours. I would be very interested to hear the opinions of those of you who have...

    Best For Show

What would be better to do to obtain good show birds....Buying from a local breeder, or ordering from hatchery? I like doing both, but night sure would be best. I hear....and for me it is true....That raising chicks, you "bond" better than older birds. What is your opinion, thoughts, or advice...
