Anyone in New jersey (south or central) who has hens for sale? Laying status does not matter and I'm willing to take older hens I also have experience with special needs chickens so I am open to taking in any of those as I do have a secondary coop! I'm looking to get a small amount of them...

What live/dressed weights are you getting from your heritage /crosses meat birds?

I'm experimenting and looking for heritage breeds (New Hampshire, Bresse, Jersey, australorp, Maline) which I can reproduce and incubate eggs without needing to continuously buy them. I am also thinking of crosses, like: New Hampshire x Standard Cornish, Bresse X Standard Cornish. Open to...

    Roosting Jersey Giant

My Jersey Giant hens are not getting the point to roost on the bars in the coop. I have various roost heights. Plenty of roosting space. These are the first JG I have had so I am learning about that breed still. They keep roosting in my nests. I had blocked the nests off for weeks and they still...

10wk Dark Brahmas and Jersey Giants M or F?

We have 2 Dark Brahmas. They were supposed to be pullets but I think we may have gotten one of each. They are 10 weeks old. What do you think? Also.. (last 2 photos) we have 4 black jersey giants. All supposed to be pullets. One however has a much larger comb and waddle. They are also 10weeks old.

    Is this a BJG?

I finally found a pic of Elvis, my first rooster from 2010. I suspect he was Black Jersey Giant, and am wondering if you guys can confirm from this pic. With time I might be able to find another photo of him with a hen near him that does not have her head down. Would appreciate any input! I...

Why are Jersey Giants a rare breed?

I have one black jersey giant pullet. She is so adorable. I know professional and hobby farmers who insist on this breed being very robust, very hardy, very docile pets, layers of very very large brown eggs and excellent meat birds. Why are they so rare?

Does anybody have Jersey Giant crosses?

Hi everybody, I have received ISA browns, white leghorns, speckled sussex, rhode island red hens with one black Jersey Giant rooster and I was wondering what a cross between them might look like. Does anyone have pictures of a cross with a giant? The more pictures the better :)
