Beckys Birds
Songster
So, I decided my birds are a bit bored and needed some interactive toys. I like coming up with ideas that use items we already have on hand. I got this idea, to hang a head of cabbage like a tether ball, from looking at a picture of a pot hanging from a tripod over a fire. I think it turned out well!
First, my husband did a "tripod lash" with some nylon twine to three, 1/2 inch, 6 foot long, PVC pipe. Then he used driveway marker poles inside each of the PVC pipes, to anchor the tripod to the ground.
Next, he fashioned a loop out of paracord. Then he attached a metal tent stake to the other end of the paracord. Finally, he stabbed the tent stake through the head of cabbage.
We had to hang the cabbage low so my 2 months old pullets can get to it, too. Everyone seems very curious, but as chickens want to be, they are apprehensive of new things.
