We have some 9 week old chickens. One of the Barred Rocks has the outside toe of each foot bent backwards. It’s exactly the same on each foot. Any input about what this is, the cause or any option for treatment is appreciated!

That is curled toes which can happen when they are hatched, a defect. If caught in the first couple of days of life, toes may be taped in place in a normal fashion, and they may grow normally. But it is too late, and that is permanent. But it won’t hurt her at all. I have had a couple with moderate curled toes and they could even roost well.

Thank you! She seems to just fine other than the curled toes. She gets around as well as the rest of them do. 👍
