From "Free Run" to Coop

Hi Alix-

I'm on a half-acre semi-urban lot in the Los Angeles margins. I built this coop and it's worked out well for us. You can pay $10 for the detailed plans or, if you feel confident, use the tutorial for free.

Welcome and I hope you'll have tremendous fun keeping your flock!

Hi,
I grew up as a city girl, but all I wanted was a country life. I have been living on a half acre of land for the last forty years and loving it. I have about 10 hens right now. I'm interested in some do-able chicken coop and run designs. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Alix in Sacramento
Hi, neighbor! I'm in Sac County!
:frow

I built mine out of scraps and Craigslist finds. Nice thing about where we are is that the weather is warm enough year round that we don't need huge coops. Covered runs are good because of hawks... Lots of those here. Depending on where in Sac you are, raccoons might be a problem, too. My coop is linked below my avatar.

Welcome Alex
I'm just a short distance from you. I'm here in the 707 area by the bay.
Building a coop is rewarding. As you research you'll learn they need more than 4 walls and some netting boxes.
If your not sure of any anything just ask.
They have helped me correct somethings I over looked.
