Help! Sick new peacock

Thank you, I am too. Birds aren’t always easy…
That is the first lesson we learn. Organ damage whether caused by BH, cocci, or worms is slow to heal if it ever does heal, but often times there is another internal problem we can not diagnose like tumors, cancer, or birth defects. Doing a necropsy could give you clues but usually, that is all you will get from the examination. Doing a fecal exam early in the sickness will tell you if you have cocci or worms but will not tell you if there is BH present. Being able to rule out possible problems can tell you the best treatment options so you can start the correct treatment asap. If you have a local vet that will run a fecal exam for you, you can still collect a fecal sample from the cecal pouch to take in tomorrow. I also advise that any new bird brought onto the property be quarantined and treated for worms and observed for cocci or any other infection for the first month before being released to general population.
