Hi, I'm still relatively new to keeping chickens and would appreciate some advice please. My chickens have a coop with a covered area attached where there are dust baths and a place to eat and scratch around but their long run is awash with mud. It's been raining so much the water doesn't drain away. The land is flat and I'm until I can get someone to install a proper drainage system I'm wondering if there is a quick(er) fix for this problem. Is there a certain way to dig holes in the run to help the water runn off? I've put pallets in there for the chicks to stand on but they are covered in mud now too.

Chunky wood chips added in thin layers (unless you already have chips sitting around that have aged for a while) - it won't fix the issue without fixing drainage, but should help stabilize the mud a little bit until you can get drainage added.
