This picture was in one of the things that pop up on the side of BYC that people have rated their breed of chicken... The thing they were rating were orpingtons. I've just never seen an orpington that looked like this.?!?!?!?

Ok. Thanks Sourland and Ramirezframing! I had never heard of them before! Are they something you can order from a hatchery?

I believe that Greenfire farms has them.

They do! I love that place.

Jubilee Orpingtons were developed in England to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of queen Victoria. They're very beautiful.

Okay, I have never heard of Greenfire farms... I checked them out... please tell me they misplaced the decimal place for the price ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

No, unfortunately importing poultry is ridiculously expensive and hard to do. I think since the whole bird-flu scare, borders have pretty much shut down (which is silly, because it spread from consuming raw poultry blood).

I just can't believe people are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a chicken, let alone a day old, unsexed chicken. I think I am in the wrong business :)
