What is the diffrence of scratch and starch?

I have no idea what the difference of scratch and starch is, its driving me crazy!!!
 
Scratch is a Mixture of grains for feeding chickens, consisting of cracked corn, oats, wheat, milo, redtop or other grains..

Starch is a Chemical Compound
Starch or amylum is a carbohydrate consisting of a large number of glucose units joined by glycosidic bonds. This polysaccharide is produced by most green plants as an energy store. Wikipedia
 
Chicken scratch is a mix of corn and grains, used as a treat for chickens to "scratch" and eat.

Starch can be any white powder derived from a number of things; i.e. corn starch, rice starch, potato starch, etc
